These food dyes are expected to have been used in various foods, such as candy, cereals, snacks, and beverages. Which Food Dyes are Banned?
According to FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert Califf, a plan is in place to ban two synthetic dyes, including Citrus Red No. 2 and Orange B.
Around six remaining petroleum-based food dyes, including FD&C Green No 3, FD&C Red No 40, FD&C Yellow No 5, FD&C Yellow No 6, FD&C Blue No 1 and FD&C Blue No 2, are set to be discarded from the food supply by the end of next year.
